A SNOWY DAY IN INDEPENDENCE, MO

FEBRUARY IN INDEPENDENCE, MO


We have been having quite a mild winter so far, with only one light snow fall until today.   It has been snowing all morning so thought it was a good day to do another blog. 

The picture on the right is from our dining area window and the one below is of our parking lot.  Elder Pugsley thought he would go out and try to shovel his car out.  I think we will wait until tomorrow!  There is more snow coming they say.
                                                                  

This month has been cold but it has not stopped us from enjoying our mission.  We don't get in a lot of visitors into our center so we have a lot of study time.

 We first do our individual studies and then the new Sisters have an extra hour to do companionship study.  The new Sisters have 12 weeks to pass off their lessons.

Sister Stobbe just passed all her lessons off and her companion made up a very clever graduation certificate and hat (out of a paper bowl and plate).  Our Sisters are really creative!

We also have a group study when it is low.  We sit around together and discuss a gospel topic.  These discussions are very interesting.
                                                                                     

Now at times, as you can see, when Elder Godfrey sits down to do his personal study, he does a lot of thinking!!!!!

The Sisters took this picture one day and then presented this note to Elder Godfrey to thank him for all his "diligent prayer and thoughtfulness" on their behalf.  It is signed "(heart) the Sisters".

Our Grandkids can testify that this is what happens when Grandpa sits down too long. 






One day a Member brought in a whole bag of very ripe bananas for the Sisters.  They didn't know what to do with them all so they decided to have a "Bad Banana Cookoff" for our Senior Couples.  They, of course, would be the judges.  We had three days to bring in what we baked.  There was some delicious Banana Bread brought in and I made up some Banana Blueberry Muffins. The Sisters all enjoyed the results.

These Sisters and us were on P-Day when I took in my Muffins, so we met them for Lunch (at Costco) so they would get to have some of my Muffins also.  If you are not on shift when the food comes in, there is a good chance there will be none left for the next day.

This month the Sisters were asked to clean out their "Zion Closet" of clothes that they did not think they would wear any more.  We also had a member that had some nice things she thought the Sisters might be able to wear and dropped them off.  We then laid them out in our large theater room and anyone could choose anything they would like.   A lot of things were chosen and a lot went to the Thrift Store when all was done.

One evening this past week, our 6  apt. building missionary couples had a potluck dinner of Navaho Tacos.  We enjoyed the time together and the association we have one with another.  It is very rare that the 3 Visitor Center couples have the same night off but we can find a night once in a while.
